A Russian woman fed up with manspreading on public transit has allegedly taken to pouring bleach on the crotches of unsuspecting male passengers.
In a viral video that has garnered more than 1.6 million views on YouTube, a woman reported to be law student and activist Anna Dovgalyuk can be seen walking through a subway train car on Sept. 25. While travelling through the St. Petersburg train she is seen pouring a liquid chemical solution from a water bottle onto male passengers who are clearly manspreading — the act of sitting on public transit with legs spread apart, the U.K. Sun reported.
The Sun reported the 20-year-old student has accused men in Russia of “gender aggression” and believes her homeland isn’t doing anything to tackle the issue.
In the video, Dovgalyuk states the contents of the water bottle are a mixture of water and bleach, which she claims will eat the colour of the fabric within minutes, leaving a noticeable stain.
Most of her male victims looked shocked as Dovgalyuk pours the solution on them. Some of the men give chase to the woman as she runs out of the train car.
“(It’s a) disgusting act that is being fought around the world — but hushed up here (in Russia),” she said.
Russian news outlet Rosbalt claims the viral video is fake, but the self-proclaimed social activist said it’s “absolutely real.”
“I don’t think people are going to go to the police to file a report about jeans,” Dovgalyuk said.
Not everyone thinks what Dovgalyuk has done is supportive.
